Consult a professional Feng Shui consultant in the planning stage, ideally before you have your architect draw up the plans - before you finalise room and door positions or colour schemes!

Design recommendations include details such as optimum orientations (if applicable) and layout, best usage of each area, door and room positioning, colours and décor and landscape recommendations. This is what it involves:

• A client survey, establishing what you want to achieve.
  
  
• A site visit to determine (best) position of the building, and to note environmental influences. (This also includes the construction of an energy map which will reveal the nature and optimum usage for each area of the building.)
  
  
• Discussions how to best achieve your objectives
  
  
• A written report and sketch (to scale) of your proposed building, indicating the best position for doors, rooms and pathways. It also includes colour schemes and furniture placement and best placement of landscaping features such as pools & ponds, sheds, open spaces.
  
  
• A review of the building plan that your drafts person or architect has drawn up as a result of my recommendations.
  
  
• Follow up communication and fine-tuning to client satisfaction. Usually I'll be consulting with you and your designer to reach the best possible design solution given the constraints your given situation.

Rates

Each consultation is completely different, and requires an individual analysis. In analysing a building or a plan, compass measurements have to be taken and an energy chart for the house has to be constructed before any recommendations are possible.

The rate for a consultation depends both on the size and location of the property. An assessment of an already drawn up design is the same as a full consultation and starts at $370.

Complete and detailed design recommendations from scratch for each room or area start at $670.
